Success Story – trip over a broken bollard

Shops, workplaces, restaurants and other public and private venues have a duty to ensure that their premises are safe for visitors and customers and the general public.

Local Authorities also have a duty to make sure that public highways such as pavements and roads are maintained to a reasonable standard and do not present a hazard to pedestrians.

Our client tripped over a broken bollard while walking along the pavement at night.  Liability was originally admitted by the defendant council but then withdrawn.

He suffered a serious leg fracture requiring surgery and was unable to work for several months.

Once proceedings were issued in court and the insurer passed the case onto their solicitors, the case settled for £40,000.
